Since then 143 exhibitions have been held in 75 museums and galleries right across the UK. ARTIST ROOMS exists to inspire children, young people and students. So far 34 million visitors have seen these shows, and 600,000 children and students have taken part in learning programmes.
The event is free and open to all. You can register for a ticket on the Eventbrite page HERE.
Anthony d'Offay opened his first gallery in 1965. In 1980 he opened the largest contemporary gallery in Europe, hosting exhibitions by many of the greatest living artists including Willem de Kooning, Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons. Inspired by Anthony’s experiences as a child at museums in Leicester and Edinburgh, the ARTIST ROOMS touring programme aims to make the greatest contemporary art accessible to young people.
Paul Hobson joined Modern Art Oxford in September 2013 having been the Director of the Contemporary Art Society (CAS) since August 2007. In 2007, he co-produced the publication Life Is More Important Than Art, which comprises a series of interviews with artists and investigates the conditions for making and presenting contemporary art from artists’ perspectives at the beginning of the twenty-first century.
