The Afro-Caribbean Tyler Prize

The Afro-Caribbean Tyler (ACT) Essay Prize Celebration Day is a private event that celebrates the culmination of the ACT Prize.
In its inaugural year, this prize is a new and unique access and outreach initiative that enhances key academic skills, rewards exceptional writing and builds networks between high achieving black students of different ages. The essay competition aims to raise the aspirations and attainment of Afro-Caribbean students who are capable of academic excellence.
The compeititon is directed by Pembroke undergraduate Hope Oloye (BA Neuroscience. 2015) and hopes to equip participanting pupils with the tools and confidence to reach top universities.
Guest speakers: Professor Uvanney Maylor (Professor of Education at the Institute for Research in Education at the University of Bedfordshire) and Professor Uduak Archibong MBE (Professor of Diversity at the University of Bradford, UK, Director of its Centre for Inclusion and Diversity, providing strategic institutional oversight for equality and diversity).
