Fellows were pleased to gather on 4th March along with some staff and students for our first annual Commemoration Dinner. This event honoured those who had left Governing Body during the pandemic without a full farewell and introduced and congratulated those who had most recently been elected to new Fellowships.

Last year, students and fellows were asked to nominate tutors for an award to recognise their commitment and dedication to teaching. After having to postpone the ceremony due to the pandemic, it was recently held in College and the tutors receiving awards were celebrated by the Master, Academic Director, students and Fellows.

Pembroke Senior Research Fellow in Arabic, Dr Elisabeth Kendall, has been elected as the new Mistress of Girton College, Cambridge starting October 2022.

Congratulations to Athena Kam (2019, Jurisprudence) and her team for being named the UK National Champions of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition!

Professor Linda Flores, Fellow in Japanese at Pembroke, was admitted this week as the University’s Junior Proctor for 2022-23, having been nominated to represent Harris Manchester College.

Congratulations to Pembroke Honorary Fellows Professor Sir Chris Whitty and Professor Irene Tracey, and to Pembroke alumni Dr Roger Highfield, Erin Kennedy and Robin Caley, who were all recognised in the 2022 New Year’s Honours List for their services in a variety of different sectors.

Stephen Whitefield and Paul Chaisty have published a commentary article titled 'Economic sanctions not likely to shift Russian public opinion against Putin immediately'.

For the 7th year running, the program has selected 60 scholars from a varied network of leaders to initiate meaningful change across the world by learning about leadership from former presidents, key former administration officials, and leading academics.
