Over our 400-year history, sport has played an increasingly important part of student life at Pembroke: from lawn bowls in the eighteenth century, to a growth in team sports and rowing in the nineteenth century, until eventually in 1921 the College was given its own sportsground, in memory of an alumnus.
It was on that very sportsground that, last weekend, old and current members of the Pembroke Football and Netball clubs joined together for a match across the ages to celebrate our 400th anniversary.
