We are very pleased to share that E.P. Abraham Fellow and Tutor in Ecology, Roberto Salguero-Gómez, has recently been awarded Recognition of Distinction and conferred the title of Professor of Ecology by the University of Oxford.

Earlier this year Pembroke's recent sustainability progress, propelled by an enthusiastic group of students and staff, was recognised with a Gold Green Impact Award.

Pembroke's Tanaka Junior Research Fellow in Japanese Studies, Dr Chinami Oka, shares her thoughts below on the value of a transnational approach to Japan's history, allowing for a deeper understanding of a broader, interconnected transnational counterculture.

Having met at a disco in Brasenose Cellars in 1971, Paul and Phyl Carvosso were married in Pembroke Chapel on a snowy April day in 1975. We were delighted to have them back exactly 50 years later this April to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary!

Pembroke alumnus Alex Joynes (2012, Theology) was recently named the winner of the People’s Play Award for his first full-length play Sides, staged at the People’s Theatre in Newcastle in May. 

The first of our 2025 Open Days in July saw hundreds of prospective applicants and their supporters welcomed to Pembroke for tours with students, informal meetings with tutors, and to explore all that Pembroke has to offer.

On 19th May we were delighted to welcome Zen Cho to Pembroke as this year’s speaker for the 2025 Annual J.R.R Tolkien Lecture on Fantasy Literature. Over a hundred Pembroke students and fantasy-enthusiasts gathered in the Pichette Auditorium for Zen’s lecture 'The Uses of Fantasy'.
