Access Week 2025: From Local to Global

Designed to emulate 'a week in the life of an Oxford undergraduate', Access Week is an annual summer residential at Pembroke College. Select pupils from our target regions who have participated in our Access and Outreach programmes were invited to attend the residential, which took place this summer. We welcomed 120 pupils who participated in tutorials, seminars, mock interviews, academic trips, and much more.

Reflections of a Recent Pembroke Graduate

Michaelmas term is fast approaching, which can only mean one thing – an onslaught of Freshers will be imminently arriving to Oxford and Pembroke. Starting university can be a big transition for anyone. We thought we’d ask one of our fresh graduates, Rohit Ghosh, to reflect on his time at Pembroke, looking all the way back to his own Freshers’ week.

Professor John Woodhouse

It is with great sadness that the College reports the recent death of Supernumerary Fellow Professor John Woodhouse. Professor Woodhouse was Fellow of Italian at Pembroke from 1984 to 1989, before moving to Magdalen College as the first Fiat Serena Professor of Italian.

Pembroke Biodiversity Project Flourishes

We are excited to share the success of the Pembroke College Biodiversity Project. Set up in 2021 by a team of undergraduate biologists, the project began with two unassuming and overgrown fields near the Pembroke sports ground, which turned out to be hidden gems of biodiversity potential.

Rokos Awards 2022: The Future of Robotic Charging and Wind Circularity

Last year, Janina Branke (2019, MEng Engineering Science) completed a summer internship as a Technology Innovation Engineer at BP. Her projects supported progress in renewable energy: one developing a robotic arm for electric vehicle charging, and the other determining methods to improve the circularity of offshore wind farms.
