Access Week 2025: From Local to Global

Designed to emulate 'a week in the life of an Oxford undergraduate', Access Week is an annual summer residential at Pembroke College. Select pupils from our target regions who have participated in our Access and Outreach programmes were invited to attend the residential, which took place this summer. We welcomed 120 pupils who participated in tutorials, seminars, mock interviews, academic trips, and much more.

Reflections of a Recent Pembroke Graduate

Michaelmas term is fast approaching, which can only mean one thing – an onslaught of Freshers will be imminently arriving to Oxford and Pembroke. Starting university can be a big transition for anyone. We thought we’d ask one of our fresh graduates, Rohit Ghosh, to reflect on his time at Pembroke, looking all the way back to his own Freshers’ week.

Last summer, Lara Clarke (2020, Psychology, Philosophy and Linguistics) took part in an internship which involved running a pair of experiments over eight weeks, asking questions about how people manage emotions by talking about them with others.

Executive Chairman of CCW Wins Lifetime Achievement Award

Last November, Lord Alderdice, Executive Chairman of the Changing Character of War research centre which is based at Pembroke, was given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 RCPsych Awards.

This inter-disciplinary workshop recently took place took place at Pembroke College, convened by Pembroke academics. It sought to investigate how the law is translated in the clinical context in organ donation and transplantation.

A number of Pembroke students worked to gather the data for a biodiversity audit. They spent a number of days around the College Main Site, the Geoffrey Arthur Building, and the Sportsground, measuring trees, birds, insects and earthworms.

Pembroke JCR Art Fund Gallery

Land, Sea, and Sky  will draw on the holdings of the Ashmolean Museum, the Tate archives, a number of Oxford colleges and private collections, seeking to bring the work of renowned British surrealist painter and war artist Paul Nash to a new generation of viewers – shedding light on the Oxfordshire locations that inspired his work and the Oxonian women who supported him.
