The Annual ‘Technos International Week’ is an important event in Japan that promotes exchange and understanding between international participants and the students of Technos International College. This year, four Pembroke undergraduates were given the opportunity to travel to Japan for 2 weeks and participate in the event.

Pembroke student Cennydd Bowles, (2021 MSt Practical Ethics) has received a Fulbright Visiting Scholar Award to enable him to lecture and research at Elon University, North Carolina on one of the most well-regarded and impactful scholarship programmes in the world.

Congratulations to Pembroke alumnus, Dr. Geoffrey Swenson (2012, DPhil International Relations), who has published his first book Contending Orders: Legal Pluralism and the Rule of Law. We asked Geoffrey about his path from Pembroke student to published author.

In May 2023, Pembroke DPhil candidate Juliana Choi (2021, DPhil Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics) used our Melandra Castle Fund to travel to Les Diablerets, Switzerland, to present a research poster at her first international conference.

Congratulations to Pembroke alumnus, Gareth Powell OBE (1994, Biology), who recently featured in The King’s 2023 Birthday Honours List. Gareth was awarded an OBE for exceptional services to Transport in London and to the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Following a trip to Mali earlier in the year, Theology and Religion DPhil candidate Yaseen Christian Andrewsen used Pembroke’s Melandra Castle Fund to travel to Morocco to visit two manuscript libraries in Rabat, where he had direct access to primary sources.

Many congratulations to Andrew Ahern (Ó hEachteirn), Pembroke Lecturer in Applied Mathematics, for being awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to conduct research with the Living Matter Lab at Stanford University.

Congratulations to Pembroke Lecturer, Dr Molly Grace, for receiving an Outstanding Research Impact commendation. These awards are given by Oxford’s Mathematics, Physical and Life Sciences Division (MPLS).
