"If there was one thing I learned at Pembroke, it was that we were supposed to do something nobody else was doing." Alumnus Tim Brookes (1971, PGCE English) is the founder of the Endangered Alphabets Project, the only organisation in the world studying Indigenous and minority scripts and addressing the issue of cultural erosion through script loss.

On Thursday 20th April we invited faith leaders from the College and wider Oxford community to a formal blessing of our new multi-faith prayer room, which will be open 7 days a week for all College members.

Congratulations to Professor Lynda Mugglestone, Pembroke Fellow & Tutor in English Language and Literature and Professor of the History of English at Oxford, for receiving a prestigious ‘TORCH Knowledge Exchange Fellowship.’

We are delighted to announce that the College has been awarded £1.36m government funding to decarbonise our historic Dining Hall, supporting the implementation of a site-wide decarbonisation plan.

Orson Hart (2020) is a third-year Pembroke undergraduate studying Mathematics. Two years into his course, Orson had the opportunity to put some of the theory he had learnt so far into practice with a summer Rokos Internship. He and his supervisor are now planning to publish some of their work in the Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids.

Alumna Lily Elsner (2019, MBA) started her male fertility business, Jack Fertility, in March 2022. A year on, she has been recognised with a Young Innovators Award from Innovate UK. She shares her memories of Pembroke, her journey since graduating, and her best advice for recent graduates.

Congratulations to Pembroke student Utkarsh Amitabh (2022, MSt Practical Ethics) for receiving a UK India Achievers Award last month for excellence in his field. These awards marked India’s 75th independence anniversary and celebrated 75 Indian achievers who are studying/have studied in the UK.

During National Apprenticeship Week in February, we spoke to our two apprentices about their experiences at Pembroke so far. Niamh Ireland, our Apprentice Chef, shares what life is like in the Pembroke kitchens, the exciting opportunities she has as a junior chef, and her hopes for the future.
