Pembroke Scholars and Exhibitioners Explore Competition Law: Scholars' Lecture and Dinner 2025

In November, our newest Scholars and Exhibitioners were formally admitted in an evening dedicated to celebrating the talent and success of Pembroke undergraduates who have excelled in public examinations, as well as those in receipt of a music or choral scholarship at Pembroke.

Professor Theo van Lint awarded medal for significant contribution to Armenian Studies

Professor Theo Maarten van Lint, Pembroke’s Calouste Gulbenkian Professor of Armenian Studies, was recently awarded the Movses Khorenatsi medal by the President of the Republic of Armenia.

Chapel Quad Named in Honour of Pembroke Alumnus Dr Damon Wells

Earlier this term the Master and Fellows unveiled a stone carving in the Chapel Quad honouring alumnus and lifelong friend of Pembroke, Dr Damon Wells.

Pembrokians Reach Finals of Prestigious MedTech Innovator Programme

Can old medical techniques develop modern medicine? Newrotex Ltd, a biotech firm founded by Pembroke SCR member and alumnus Dr Alex Woods (Graduate Entry Medicine, 2009) and Senior Associate Professor Fritz Vollrath, has developed a medical device which uses silk from moths and spiders – historically used to treat wounds – to now solve the unmet needs in treating large gap nerve injuries.

Pembroke Hosts Final Open Day of 2023

On Friday 15th September we welcomed around 750 prospective applicants and their supporters to Pembroke for our final Undergraduate Open Day of the year. Visitors were welcomed at the Lodge by members of staff, before taking tours of College with our team of friendly student ambassadors who were ready to answer questions about living and studying at Pembroke, life in Oxford, and much more.

Rose Gough

We are deeply saddened to share the news that Rose Gough, Lodge Porter, died earlier this month.  Rose has been a constant and welcoming presence at the entrance to Pembroke for almost ten years.  Her striking ability to connect with anyone that walked through our doors gave her a special place in the Pembroke community.

Pembroke Welcomes Rochdale and Bury Students for Month-Long Summer School

08 September 2023

Over the month of July, 260 secondary school students from around the world experienced undergraduate life at Pembroke. This year, following a partnership formed with Rochdale Development Agency, a number of pupils from across Rochdale and Bury were invited to attend the summer school - an opportunity to engage with new academic ideas, to be challenged in their subjects, and to immerse themselves in the Oxbridge experience.

Congratulations to Pembroke’s Stanley Ho Fellow and Tutor in Chinese, Professor Henrietta Harrison, whose book ‘The Perils of Interpreting: The Extraordinary Lives of Two Translators between Qing China and the British Empire’ has been shortlisted for the Wolfson History Prize 2023.

Dr Peter Claus Publishes Third Edition of ‘History: An Introduction to Theory and Method’

Dr Peter Claus, Pembroke Access Fellow and Director of OxNet and CredOx, has recently published the third edition of his book titled ‘History: An Introduction to Theory and Method’. Co-authored with Professor John Marriott, this book is an essential resource for students of historical theory and method, and can be used at both introductory and advanced levels.
