Much like the 2020 admissions cycle, the University of Oxford has interviewed its prospective candidates online this year.  Resources produced by the Academic Office were published on our website on the admissions page and a series of takeovers and tips were posted on our Instagram.

In a recent Black History Month organised by the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan and the University of Oxford Japan Office, two Pembroke College students, Warren Stanislaus and Chimdinma Okpalauko, were invited as speakers.

We are delighted to announce the election of Professor Vincent Conitzer, a distinguished computer scientist and artificial intelligence (AI) researcher, as Visiting Fellow at Pembroke College.

The Recognition of Distinction Scheme is a yearly exercise which confers the title of full professor at the University of Oxford. Dr Dickman is now a Professor of Wildlife Conservation.

Congratulations to Pembroke Senior Research Fellow Professor Gregg Huff, who was jointly awarded the Economic History Association’s Lindert-Williamson Prize for ‘the outstanding book in the last two years on global, African, Asian or Latin American History’.

The Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford recently held its 2021 round of Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA). From Pembroke College, Dr Jack Amiry, Dr Richard Harrington and Professor Jeremy Taylor all won an award.

We were delighted to host our annual Long Service Awards in person again this year to honour and thank staff members that have been with us for ten years or more.

On Tuesday 2 November an event was held in Farthings to unveil the portrait of Peter Farthing and to celebrate and remember the impact of his involvement with Pembroke. The Master was joined by the artist, Jeremy Sutton (1979) and former Bursar and Advisory Fellow John Church, who commissioned the portrait. The former Master Giles Henderson and several current and Emeritus Fellows, together with other guests, were also in attendance.

Many congratulations to Jan Eijking, Stipendiary Lecturer in International Relations at Pembroke, for winning the Best Graduate Paper award for 2021. Given by the European International Studies Association (EISA), this award recognizes and supports the contribution of PhD students to the field of International Relations.
