National Recognition for new buildings: Civic Trust Commendation

Pembroke is delighted to once again have its newest quadrangles, buildings and bridge recognised for their architectural contribution to their surroundings. A Commendation for the complex was received from The Civic Trust during their 2014 awards ceremony on Friday 7th March.

The Rokos Quad and its constituent buildings are in their second academic year of use and the facilities they contain have transformed the Pembroke student experience - three years of accommodation are now available in College property for all undergraduates, the new auditorium is used for academic and artistic pursuits alike, a cafe provides relaxing and socialising space for the entire community, modern teaching rooms have been added and a permanent art gallery established for the prized JCR Art Fund collection.

The Civic Trust Awards scheme was established in 1959 to recognise the very best in architecture, design, planning, landscape and public art. Awards are given to projects that demonstrate high quality architecture or design, have demonstrated sustainability, are accessible to all users and have made a positive cultural, social or economic contribution to the local community.
