Undergraduate Room Types & Charges
Pembroke offers College-owned accommodation to undergraduate students for three years of their degree.
Rooms are available for undergraduates either on the main Pembroke College site or at the Sir Geoffrey Arthur Building (otherwise known at the GAB), a modern riverside building a short walk from the main site.
MAIN SITE ACCOMMODATION
All 1st year undergraduate students live in rooms on the main site. 2nd year and final year students choose between main site and GAB accommodation (see below).
Rooms on the main College are all fully-furnished. They vary in terms of size and facilities, so are split into different price 'bands', from A-F.
Students in main site accommodation are fully catered for in Hall and take out a pre-paid meal plan. Find out more about catering at Pembroke here.
Although they are catered for, and therefore kitchens are not located on each staircase, students may make use of the several kitchens dotted around the main site.
There are a total of five rooms for wheelchair users, and there is wheelchair access to all parts of the College site. Pembroke also has hard-of-hearing adapted rooms.
If you have any questions about facilities, accessibility or availability of rooms at Pembroke, please contact email@example.com for more information.
MAIN SITE ROOM BANDS AND CHARGES
Find out more about A-F banded rooms on the main site rooms (including photos and prices) on this downloadable PDF.
The Sir Geoffrey Arthur Building (GAB) is located a short walk from Pembroke's main site, on Long Ford Close.
The GAB hosts just under 100 students, both undergraduate and graduate.
2nd year and final year undergraduates get to choose between main site and GAB accommodation.
The avergage size of a GAB room is 13 square metres
All GAB staircases have kitchens for student use. Alternatively, students may eat in Hall or Farthings café on a pay-as-you-go basis. Find out more about catering at Pembroke here.
Rooms are arranged in 'staircases' of 4-6 single study bedrooms with a shared kitchen, two bath/shower rooms and a separate W/C.
GAB ROOM CHARGES
Contracts for 2016-17 GAB rooms run for nine months, or 272 nights, from Sun 25th September - Fri 23rd June.
For 2016-17, rent is £4848 for the 9 month academic year.
Rent therefore works out as £1616 per term, or £17.82 per night.
Note: In their 2nd and subsequent years of undergraduate degrees students who hold College scholarships receive a subsidy of £1,000 p.a. against their rent charges, and College Exhibitioners receive £500 under the same scheme (which is kindly funded by a donor). Find out more here.
