Sir Roger Bannister, former Master, celebrates 60th anniversary of 4 minute mile

Today marks the 60th anniversary of Sir Roger Bannister's famous athletic achievement: running the first sub-four minute mile, at Iffley Road race track here in Oxford.

Sir Roger has released an autobiography, Twin Tracks, to coincide with celebrations which are taking place throughout the week to mark this special event.

As well as going on to a distinguished career in neuroscience, Sir Roger served as Master of Pembroke from 1985 - 1993 and the College is still home to a display of his sporting trophies and memorabilia.
