Pembroke Pastry Chef Undertakes Work Experience in Award-Winning Bakery

Last week Pembroke’s Pastry Chef, Rebecca Hardy, went to the notable bakery The Penny Bun Bakehouse in Lowestoft for three days of work experience. Whilst there, Rebecca learnt from John Spillings, the owner of the bakery.

John previously trained under Raymond Blanc at the Le Manoir and moved around many Michelin Star restaurants, before opening his Bakery in Lowestoft. Getting stuck in straight away (as you can see in the photo!) Rebecca was able to learn many new techniques.

At Pembroke we send our Chefs on many different training courses, which keep them up to date with modern cookery, enable them to acquire new skills and ultimately enrich their work in College.
