Pembroke Graduate Student Mike Joseph Receives M.G. Brock Junior Research Fellowship at Corpus Christi College, Oxford

NEWS |

We’re delighted to report that Pembroke graduate student Mike Joseph (DPhil History, 2015) has been awarded the M.G. Brock Junior Research Fellowship at Corpus Christi College, Oxford. He will use the next three years at Corpus Christi to revise his DPhil thesis for publication as a monograph.

Mike’s work looks at the impact of the First World War on ideas about empire and citizenship in the British and French Caribbean. He is soon to begin a new project combining this work on decolonisation with research interests in theology and the psychology of religion. Alongside this research, Mike will be teaching modern British history and historical theory.

Reflecting on his time at Pembroke and the opportunity ahead, Mike commented:

'I feel so lucky to have had six years at Pembroke - the College will always be very special to me and I owe many people here a huge debt of thanks. In particular, I'd like to thank my supervisors, Stephen Tuck and Adrian Gregory, whose support since my time as an undergraduate has been invaluable. I’ve already been made to feel very welcome at Corpus and I’m so excited to get started in October!’
