Professor Ingmar Posner, Fellow and Tutor in Engineering at Pembroke, was announced as the winner of Outstanding Graduate Supervisor (MPLS Division) at the Oxford University Student Union (OUSU) Teaching Awards on Tuesday 3rd May.

The OUSU Teaching Awards were founded to celebrate the high standards of academic teaching and support for students at Oxford. The 2016 awards ceremony, in the Oxford Town Hall, celebrated the achievements of 94 shortlisted candidates for 25 awards, from a total of 650 student nominations.

The Outstanding Supervisor category recognises academics who demonstrate and share their subject expertise, engage thoughtfully and critically with students, encourage independence in their supervisees, and provide support for overcoming challenges.

Prof. Posner commented: 'This whole affair is very humbling as it is, of course, the students who enable any PI to translate vision into reality. I would not be able to do what I do without them. To have been nominated is tremendously special. It really means a lot. To have actually been awarded the prize is, of course, the icing on the cake.'

Pembroke is also proud that Prof. Rebecca Williams and Prof. Ariel Ezrachi (Tutors in Law) received the only joint nomination from students, for Outstanding Pastoral Support, while Prof. Williams was also a candidate in the Outstanding Tutor category for the Social Sciences.
