NEWS |
Pembroke alumnus Pete Buttigieg (Rhodes Scholar, 2005) has been elected to a second term as Mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Securing more than 80% of votes cast, Buttigieg beat his rival Kelly Jones with 8515 votes to 2074.
Buttigieg is also one of two recipients of the 2015 John F. Kennedy New Frontier Awards, founded by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation and the Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government as a means of acknowledging young Americans making a positive impact in their communities through their contributions to public office.
Jack Schlossberg, grandson of John F. Kennedy, told the Harvard IOP: ‘Pete Buttigieg is an inspiring example both in his innovative leadership of South Bend and in his service to country as a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve.’
