Join the Pembroke Chemists: Tutorial Fellowship Vacancy

NEWS |

At Pembroke, we have a talented and ambitious community of Chemists, and we are looking for a new senior academic team member who wants to engage with our students in tutorial teaching, as well as being committed to their own top-flight research.

During the past year, the study of Chemistry has continued to thrive at Pembroke in spite of the pandemic. Last summer, Chemistry Fellow Professor Ben Davis was awarded the Davy Medal from the Royal Society in recognition of his outstanding contributions to science, specifically for inventing chemical methods to manipulate complex biological molecules. In December, Professor Andy Baldwin was awarded a €2 million Euro grant by the European Research Council (ERC) for his research work studying protein assemblies within human cells.

2020 was also a successful year for our students and alumni in the field of Chemistry. Omar Tsang (2016) excelled in his final exams, graduated with a first and achieving the highest mark in his course across the entire University. Alumna Kirsty Penkman (1996) was the successful Chemistry Laureate in the 2020 Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists, in recognition of her research programme that has made significant advances in the ability of scientists to accurately date ancient fossils.

If you’re interested in becoming a key part of this diverse and thriving group of scientists leading ground-breaking research, please consider applying to this Fellowship opening.
