Graham McCallum CBE

The College is sad to announce that Foundation Fellow Graham McCallum CBE died on 8th August 2014, aged 88.  As a mark of respect, the College flag will fly at half-mast until his (private family) funeral has taken place.

A memorial service will be held on 29th September 2014 at 11:30am at The University Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Oxford, followed by a reception at Pembroke.  The family have asked that no flowers be sent – donations can be made to Dementia UK if desired.

Graham McCallum came up to Pembroke in 1944 and read Jurisprudence (Law) as an undergraduate.  After leaving College Mr McCallum had a distinguished international career, including time spent as Executive Director of John Swire & Sons.

The nephew of former Pembroke Master Ronald McCallum, Graham continued his strong family relationship with the College throughout his lifetime.  In 1994 the Governing Body elected him to a Foundation Fellowship in recognition of his outstanding support for Pembroke, and his later donation to the Bridging Centuries Campaign for the College’s newest buildings was recognised by the naming of The McCallum Terrace.
