We are pleased to report that Pembroke undergraduates, Tim Jukes (BA Modern Languages, French and German, 2016) and Karl Frey (MBiochem Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 2015), gave a successful performance at the 128th Oxford vs Cambridge Golf Varsity Match at Ganton Golf Club in Scarborough.

The Oxford University Golf Club (OUGC) took their 8th consecutive Varsity Match victory this year with an overall 10.4 – 4.5 win. Notably, Pembroke was the only college with two golfers on the men’s first team, which was comprised of 10 men in total.

Tim and Karl had the unforgettable experience of gaining points for Oxford by winning the closing (36th) hole in their singles ‘match play’ games.

Reflecting on their success, Karl said, ‘The team, our coaches and the crowd created a thrilling atmosphere. My match-winning birdie putt on the closing hole of my singles match is thus far the highlight of my golfing career and it was a pleasure to share this experience with a group of fantastic golfers and great friends.’

Tim added, ‘It was an honour to be part of such a tense and exciting match!’
