Dr Robin Jackson (1969) honoured with CBE

Dr Robin Jackson was named in the 2014 New Year Honours list as CBE for services to scholarship and on 28th March he attended an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace where his honour was presented by Her Majesty the Queen.

Dr Jackson came up to Pembroke in 1969 and read Classics, before going on to Princeton where he took his PhD in ancient philosophy. He then taught in the USA and at the University of Melbourne, returning to the UK in 1994 to join the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education as Assistant Director. Later he was Policy Adviser (Research and Knowledge Transfer) for Universities UK and Director of Corporate Resources at the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

Since 2006 Robin Jackson has been Chief Executive and Secretary of the British Academy. His publications include various policy reports on research and related topics.
