Dame Lynne Brindley Opens Library at the University of Birmingham

The Master of Pembroke College, Dame Lynne Brindley, was invited to open the University of Birmingham’s new library on Monday 13th February 2017. The £60 million building unites 2.1 million physical items from books and journals, to CDs and DVDs, with experts on hand to help and advise on texts, support and resources.

Dame  Lynne is the former Chief Executive of the British Library.  Speaking at the opening she acknowledged that ‘modern library investment is critical to future-proofing research and education in a digital era of “alternative truths”.’

The bespoke design of the library suits modern user’s requirements. It is embracing new technologies and also making more of the University of Birmingham’s collection accessible to students and researchers.
