British Commission for Maritime History Award for Mike Joseph (2011)

For his final year history dissertation Mike Joseph (2011) chose the area of maritime history, with the title: ‘To be hanged in Chains in the most publick Place where Ships pass and repass’: The Punishment of Maritime Crime at Execution Dock, 1701-1784.  His work has received a national award for undergraduate achievement from the British Commission for Maritime History.

The British Commission for Maritime History (BCMH) aims to enhance knowledge and understanding of the maritime dimensions of history, a subject area that embraces naval, sea transport, fisheries and marine recreational history as well as nautical archaeology: www.maritimehistory.org.uk
