2021, DPhil Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (Linguistics)

As a third-year DPhil student at Pembroke, I've found my experience transformative.

Many of my fondest memories are made in Pembroke and MCR. In the Humanities, DPhil students often lack broader departmental engagement opportunities. Recognising this, I actively participated in various social and academic activities. I mentored in the JCR and MCR Mentorship Scheme, presented at MCR’s academic symposiums, and received support from the Dean of Graduates Fund for fieldwork and conferences. I underwent peer-supporter training, volunteered as a Humanities editor for the Pembroke Academic Journal, and engaged in 3CR Talks. Pembroke has not only supported my academic pursuits but also provided a nurturing and inclusive community that has greatly enriched my DPhil journey.
