Pembroke Welcomes New Rokos Junior Research Fellow David Escamilla-Guerrero

NEWS |

Pembroke College is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr David Escamilla-Guerrero as a Rokos Junior Research Fellow. David, whose research focus is in Economic History, will be joining Pembroke at the beginning of the 2019/20 academic year.

David will be joining us as a PhD candidate from the London School of Economics. He specialises in the research areas of development economics and migration, and has written research papers focusing on the initial determinants of Mexican migration to the United States in the early 20th century and the role that wage premiums and certain events played in causing these patterns.

On the subject of his appointment, David commented: "I am honoured to be appointed as Rokos Junior Research Fellow at Pembroke College. I am certain that my research will benefit greatly from Pembroke’s vibrant intellectual community. I am thrilled to be a part of College life and I look forward to meet the Pembroke family through the course of my appointment. My research interests lie at the intersection between labour economics, development, and quantitative economic history. Currently, I am studying the initial mechanics of Mexico-US migration and its impact in long-run development patterns."

We wish David all the best in getting settled and look forward to him joining the Pembroke Community.
