Pembroke student Brianna Stubbs has been included in the BBC list of 100 Women of 2014 which brings together names from across the sciences, arts and beyond. All those included are taking part in global events and discussions and the list recognises the difference they are making to the world.

In 2013 Brianna was the only woman to be awarded an Industrial Fellowship from The Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 to fund her research. Alongside her academic work Brianna is an international rower and most recently represented Great Britain at the 2014 Lucerne World Cup where she competed in the women's lightweight quadruple scull event.

Briana says "I feel humbled to be listed alongside other women who are actively shaping our world today- not only scientists and sports people, but human rights campaigners, women in the arts, politicians and women in war zones- it is great to have a chance to promote positive coverage of women by the media."

Brianna Stubbs arrived at Pembroke in 2009 to read for a BA in pre-clincal Medicine and is now a DPhil student in Physiology. Her research interest lies in a chemical which can be naturally produced by the body called a ketone, which is a form of energy. Brianna’s group are working on the development of a new ketone-based sports drink, and her own experiences as a sportswoman contribute to her personal knowledge in this area.
