The university is honoured to be hosting the respected Tibetan Buddhist teacher and translator, Khenpo Sodargye, invited by The Oxford University Tibetan and Himalayan Studies programme.

As a principal teacher and administrator at Larung Gar, one of the largest and most influential contemporary centres of Tibetan Buddhist learning on the Tibetan Plateau, Khenpo Sodargye has been a pivotal figure in bringing Tibetan Buddhism to ethnic Chinese audiences in mainland China and beyond over the last two decades.  He is a prolific author and the coordinator of a network of dharma study groups that involve tens of thousands of lay Chinese students. Khenpo is also a committed philanthropist, and devotes much energy to Buddhist outreach, especially among young people in Tibet and China.
