'Phèdre' - New College Cloisters

PAST EVENT | 25 May 2017 19:30 - 27 May 2017 21:30

Adopted from Euripedes’ 'Hippolytus', adapted by Jean Racine and now translated by Ted Hughes, our Phèdre brings together elements from each layer of interpretation and translation.

A modern-day setting provides a new stage for the ancient Greek themes of incest and suicide, while Racine’s stunningly visual poetry drives this story inevitably to its tragic climax.

The Director is Sarah Houillon from New College and Pembroke's Lily Begg is the Assistant Director and Production Manager.

Performance dates: 25th, 26th and 27th May
