Pembroke History Society Guest Lecture - Michael Bundock

The Pembroke History Society will be hosting Michael Bundock for their first event of Michaelmas term.

Bundock will speak about his most recent book, ‘The Fortunes of Francis Barber’, which chronicles a young boy’s journey from the horrors of Jamaican slavery to the heart of London’s literary world, and reveals the unlikely relationship with a Pembroke alumnus that changed his life.


Michael Bundock is a director of Dr. Johnson’s House Trust and former editor of The New Rambler, the annual journal of the Johnson Society of London. He is the author of numerous essays and articles on Samuel Johnson, Francis Barber, and eighteenth-century history and literature.

All guests are welcome, but there are limited places. Please register your interest via email to flora.raybould@pmb.ox.ac.uk. On the day of the event, entry will then be first come first served.
