PAST EVENT | 07 June 2016 07:30 - 07 June 2016 09:15

The Pembroke City BreXfast .

Tired of the old "in or out"?
What do our neighbours really care about Brexit and us?
What difference will staying or leaving make to Europe in the longer term?

Sir Peter Ricketts (1971) and Professors Robert Rohrschneider and Stephen Whtiefield will introduce the morning's discussion. Q&A to be moderated by Dame Lynne Brindley, Master of Pembroke.

Sir Peter Ricketts (Pembroke 1971, English) retired from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, where his most recent posting was as Ambassador to France, earlier this year. His distinguished career as a UK diplomat had already taken in the roles of Permanent Secretary of the FCO and National Security Adviser. Senior postings abroad have included Brussels as Permanent Representative to NATO, Singapore and Washington. Peter addressed our “Eurasian” City Breakfast last year and is an Honorary Fellow of the College.

Professor Robert Rohrschneider is the 2016 Fulbright Visiting Professor at Pembroke and the Department of Politics and International Relations at Oxford. He is also the Sir Robert Worcester Distinguished Professor of Political Science at the University of Kansas. Robert has written widely on comparative public opinion and parties, European and German politics.

Professor Stephen Whitefield is Rhodes-Pelczynski Fellow in Politics and Tutor in Politics at Pembroke. Stephen spent 20 years studying post-Communist politics and society via mass surveys and is also now interested in West European political parties. Stephen and Robert were co-authors in 2012 of The Strain of Representation: How Parties Represent Diverse Voters in Western and Eastern Europe”
