The College is hosting an event to celebrate the students who have entered the 2015 Orwell Youth Prize.
TIMETABLE
11.30: Guests arrive. Tours of Pembroke College led by current student volunteers.
12.15: Writers’ Seminar: three parallel seminars, each led by an author or journalist.
13.00: Lunch for young people and guests in the Pembroke College Dining Hall.
13.45: Guests move to the Pichette Auditorium.
14.00: CELEBRATION
- Welcome to Pembroke College by Dame Lynne Brindley, DBE FRSA, Master of Pembroke College, Oxford
- Introduction to Celebration by compère Rick Edwards
- Solo performance of Animal Farm by Guy Masterson
15.00: Interval. Opportunity for young people to network with journalists and writers.
15.30: The Orwell interview. Alan Johnson, MP and Orwell Prize winner; and Richard Blair, George Orwell’s son, are interviewed by Jean Seaton, Director of the Orwell Prize.
16.15: The Orwell Youth Prize Awards 2015. Presentation of Awards to the Orwell Youth Prize 2015 Winners and Finalists.
16.45: Closing remarks. Thanks to Pembroke College, sponsors, partners and participants.
The event will be presented by writer and TV Presenter Rick Edwards.
