The JULIA STOSCHEK COLLECTION is a private international collection of contemporary art with a focus on time-based media art. Opened in 2007, the private collection has a building of its own, located in Düsseldorf, Germany. Alongside sculpture and photography, the collection focuses on time-based media, including video, film and multi-channel installations. At present, it includes over 600 pieces primarily by European and US artists.
The Pembroke College JCR (Junior Common Room) Art Collection is a student owned art collection that was established in the 1940s by a mature undergraduate named Anthony Emery. The collection is mostly comprised of post war British paintings, sculptures and prints, and is housed in a purpose built gallery in the College. The Pembroke JCR Art Fund is a committee made up of students and fellows, who oversee the collection and art related events and programs. We are committed to engaging Pembroke students in art in their college, and in wider Oxford, and are very excited to have Julia Stoschek speak to us about contemporary collecting and time-based media art.
