Brexit and Higher Education Inquiry

The Education Committee will hold the first evidence session for the Brexit and Higher Education inquiry at Pembroke College, University of Oxford. The inquiry is on the impact of exiting the European Union on higher education.
The event will take place on 11th January, 2017 at 9.15am in the Harold Lee Room, Pembroke College. University students and staff can sign up to attend on Eventbrite.
The event is open to all university students and members of staff. The event is free to attend, although tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. A waiting list will operate if the event is fully subscribed.
The committee will be examining the strategies for universities handling the impact of Brexit, the overall risks and opportunities of exit from the EU, and higher education’s top priorities for the negotiations with the EU. The session will also explore freedom of movement of staff and the impact on academic exchange, teaching, research and university reputation.
The committee will hear from university leaders from Cambridge, Oxford, Oxford Brookes, and Coventry, and academics representing different fields, including the Engineering Professors’ Council, and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
