Information for Teachers
Outreach work with schools
Pembroke welcomes applications from all students with excellent academic potential, regardless of their social, ethnic, regional or educational background. We host a number of events for schools and teachers throughout the year.
Regional Outreach
The University has developed a programme to simplify communication between the University and all schools in the United Kingdom. Each Oxford college is linked to a Local Authority to ensure that each school has a first point of contact within the University.
This measure has been undertaken to improve the way in which we communicate information, advice and guidance to teachers. The scheme will not have any bearing on the Oxford admissions process and will not influence whether a college offers a candidate a place. It is not intended to replace any existing contact a school may have with a particular college or department.
Pembroke has been linked to Local Authorities in Bolton, Bury, Cheshire, Halton, Hammersmith & Fulham, Rochdale, Warrington and Wigan. Since the regional outreach programme was set up, we have been working hard to develop links and ongoing projects with schools in these areas in particular. Some examples include the Fred Walker essay prize with Canon Slade school in Bolton, and our student-led road trip to the Manchester area in June each year. Click here to read about the full scope of Pembroke's outreach work in these regions.

Each College of the University of Oxford is assigned Local Authorities, as part of the Universities ongoing commitment to engage with schools. Find out which College has been linked to your Local Authority.
