Ballinger, Francis Allan

Francis Ballinger was born on 5th March 1893, the second son of Allan and Kate Ballinger of Gloucester. After attending the Crypt School, Francis matriculated at Pembroke College in Michaelmas 1912 on a Townsend Scholarship. He passed his Mods with a 4th class in 1914. A 2nd lieutenant with the 4th battalion of The King’s Liverpool Regiment, Francis was killed in action at Richebourg l’Avoué on 22 May 1915, aged 22. He is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
