Pembroke academics land new roles

NEWS |

Congratulations to Pembroke Stipendiary Lecturer Mr Gustavo Mellior and Junior Research Fellow Dr David Escamilla-Guerrero, who have recently moved onto new roles at the London Business School and the University of St. Andrews, respectively.

Gustavo, who joined us in September 2018 on a two year fixed-term contract, will be starting a new role at the London Business School as a postdoctoral research assistant in an ESRC-funded project. The aim of the project is to examine how citizens living longer and healthier lives can boost the economy.

Reflecting on his time at Pembroke, Gustavo commented: “I am and will eternally be grateful to have been a member of staff at Pembroke College. It has been wonderful to be able to interact with gifted, motivated and intellectually ambitious students, meet members of staff with such interesting lives and performing cutting-edge research, and of course work in such a beautiful building in an environment that is immersed with so much history and where so many great scholars have been.”

David joined us last September as a Junior Research Fellow on a one year fixed-term contract, and in September 2020 he will be starting a new role at the University of St. Andrews as an Assistant Professor of Economics at the School of Economics and Finance.

Discussing his year here at Pembroke, David commented: “I will miss very much Pembroke's vibrant and diverse academic environment as well as its beautiful gardens. I feel very fortunate and grateful for being part of a wonderful community. See you soon!”

We wish both Gustavo and David the very best of luck in these exciting new roles!
