Student Callers Raise £180,000 and Counting...

NEWS |

During the final two weeks of March, 13 of our current students took to the phones to speak to alumni about life after Pembroke, seek careers advice and share stories about the College. While the telethon served as a chance to update alumni about Pembroke and answer their questions, it also provided an opportunity to ask for support for the Annual Fund.

The response from alumni was fantastic, resulting in the student team raising more than £150,000 of pledges, with more gifts still arriving. Nearly half of those spoken to made a gift to the Annual Fund, which supports the College’s academic priorities, student financial support, access programmes, and many student activities.

The great result was also helped by a matching challenge that ran during the telethon. A group of alumni who understand the tremendous importance of regular gifts in enabling Pembroke to plan for the future, generously pledged an additional £250 for each new regular gift during the telethon of £10 a month or more. All other gifts made during the telethon unlocked an extra £50 for Pembroke. The challenge raised an additional £28,600 for the Annual Fund this year, taking the telethon total so far to more than £180,000.

Thanks to all who took the time to chat to a student caller – they enjoyed their conversations, and several now have information about work experience as well as having made valuable career contacts.

The Annual Fund has a direct impact on the experience all Pembroke students have at College. Donors are invited to the Annual Fund Series event on Saturday 6th June to learn more about this impact.
