Derrick, John Leslie

John Derrick was born on 4th September 1890 in Cheltenham, eldest son of the Rev. John George Derrick and his wife, Edith. After attending Cheltenham Grammar School, John matriculated at Pembroke College in 1908, obtaining a 2nd class in his Mods exams in 1910 and a 3rd class BA in Modern History in 1912. A Captain with the 6th battalion, the Yorkshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 27th August 1917, aged 27, at Battle of Langemarck during the 3rd Ypres Campaign.
