Dateline-Saigon: A Film Screening by The Quill Project

Date and time

27 Nov 2018 17:00 to 19:00

The Quill Project presents an evening screening of 'Dateline-Saigon'. The documentary film chronicles the ground-breaking work of five journalists and their efforts to speak truth to power during the Vietnam war. The screening will include an introduction to the film and an interview with Tom Herman, Director of the film and Pembroke alumnus.

One of the most compelling and timely lines in the film comes from David Halberstam (The New York Times):

“If the government is telling the truth, reporters become a minor, relatively unimportant conduit to what is happening. But when the government doesn’t tell the truth, begins to twist the truth, hide the truth, then the journalist becomes involuntarily infinitely more important.”

The screening will begin at 5 pm and finish at around 7:00 pm. Please note that the doors to the auditorium will be closed 5 minutes before the start time of event. The event is free and open to all, however attendees must register tickets via Eventbrite where more information on the film can also be found.
