Cook, Cyril Edward

Cyril Cook was born on 5th April 1893, at Clapham Common, the eldest son of Samuel Cook, solicitor. After attending Roysse’s School, Abingdon, he matriculated at Pembroke College in 1912 as an Abingdon Scholar, obtaining a 3rd class in his Mods exams in 1914. A 2nd lieutenant with the 2nd battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment, he died on 8th July 1916, aged 23, from wounds received on 1st July. He is buried at the Chocques Military Cemetery, France.
