Guest information: FAQs
If you have any questions that are not answered below, please contact us: firstname.lastname@example.org
Check In: from 2.00 pm
Check Out: by 9.00 am (or before your first morning session, whichever is earlier)
Due to the high volume of guests coming and going during conference season, the turn-around period required for bedrooms is quite short. Therefore it is very important that check out time is observed and keys are returned on time.
There is a £20 fine per hour for the late return of room keys/cards.
On arrival, visitors check in at the Porters' Lodge where a room key or card will be issued if staying overnight. The Porters’ Lodge is staffed 24 hours a day. Please be aware that the College gate is usually locked at 7pm, reopening at 7am. If arriving between these times, please ring the bell for entrance.
On occasion early check in or late check out may be arranged. Please check with the Conference & Events Office: email@example.com
Please click here for a downloadable College map in advance of your visit.
There is a luggage room situated near the Lodge. If arriving before check-in time, or checking out in the morning before the end of your conference programme, and you require luggage storage, please ask the Porters.
We provide a hand towel and small shower towel per person in the bedrooms. To reduce single-use plastic we do not provide individual shampoo and conditioner bottles in every room, however we do have a small stock at the Lodge should you forget your own. Hairdryers may also be requested from the Lodge (subject to availability).
Please be aware that Pembroke College is first and foremost an academic institution, and as such may not be able to provide the facilities which guests might expect to find in a dedicated hotel. Our bedrooms are designed for student life and have been built and refurbished at varying times over the past four centuries, so you will experience a great range in size, style and condition. We hope this adds to the unique feeling of your stay!
There are three self-service laundry facilities on site with coin-operated washing and drying machines (£2 per wash, £1 per dry), irons and ironing boards. Please note we do not have a facility for changing cash so exact change will be needed.
Children under the age of 16 can only accompany guests overnight under special circumstances and with prior consent from the College. Please contact the Conference & Events Office with any such requests: firstname.lastname@example.org
Breakfast is generally served 8am – 9am in the Hall unless organised otherwise by your conference organiser, or unless you have booked 'room only' as a private individual booking where breakfast is not included. Please check your conference schedule or your booking confirmation for specific details. Occasionally vouchers for breakfast in Pembroke's café, Farthings, may be given instead.
Free wireless internet connection is accessible throughout the College for conference guests only. A username and password specific to your conference will be issued with your room key/card on arrival.
Due to the University's internet safety policy, B&B and 'room only' guests do not have access to the College's private network. Access to the public WiFi network The Cloud is available instead under their standard terms and conditions.
Pembroke’s on-site Café is open from 8am – 6pm Monday – Friday. All guests are welcome to use this facility throughout their stay.
As well as being College policy, the smoke detectors do not allow smoking, candles or fragrance sticks of any type in the bedrooms, corridors and Conference rooms. Aside from the risk of fire, the smoke may activate the alarms and result in a false emergency callout.
Any personal belongings left behind after a function will be held in the Conference & Events Office for a maximum of 7 days. If they are unclaimed by this time they will be disposed of.
If you have any concerns or issues during your visit between the hours of 9am - 5pm, please drop into the Events Office which can be found in Albion House in the Rokos Quad. If your issue is outside of these times, the Duty Porter in the Lodge will be happy to help as best they can.
