IT Facilities & Internet
Pembroke's IT facilities include several computer rooms, laptop access points in the library, and network sockets in all student rooms for personal computers computer. Wireless is widely available.
IT support is provided by the IT Systems Manager (Simon Thomson), the IT Officer (James Wigfield) and the assistant IT Officer, (Lavanya Rao).
You can call into the IT Office for help with any problems from 8:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday throughout each term, or arrange for an appointment.
You can contact the IT staff by calling 01865 276430/40/50 or email: email@example.com.
All students are issued with a Pembroke College account, which is used for logging into the network PMBWireless as well as accessing the computers in the computer rooms and library.
Please note that breach of the College and University Computer Rules and Code of conduct can result in your connection being withdrawn and, depending on the severity of the infringement, a fine or further penalty.
Wireless is available throughout College. Connect to PMBWireless and enter your Pembroke college credentials, given to you when you arrive.
If this is the first time your device has been on our network, you'll need to register it. Whilst connected to PMBWireless, visit www.pmb.ox.ac.uk. The system will redirect you to a one time registration form. If your device is running Windows or OS X, it will check that you have anti-virus software installed. If you fail the scan, the system will direct you to a site where you can download a university licensed version of Sophos anti-virus for free.
All rooms are usually open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during term time. No food or drink is allowed in any of the computer rooms.
The 'G.A.B. IBM Computer Room' is located at the Geoffrey Arthur Building, and is available to both undergraduates and graduates. The room contains seven modern computers and a networked laser printer. Printing costs 3p per sheet, which is added to your battels; you supply your own paper.
The 'MCR Computer Room - Staircase 3' is available exclusively to MCR members (graduate students), and features four networked modern computers and one networked laser printer. Printing costs 3p per sheet, which is added to your battels.
The Library has wired and wireless access to the internet.
There is a colour photocopier accessed by students college door card. Students can also print to this copier by following the instructions here.
CONNECTING PERSONAL DEVICES
All student rooms have an Ethernet socket for connection to the Pembroke network, although most students choose to connect wirelessly.
