RHIANNON WHITE (Experimental Psychology, 2014)

Rhiannon is now in her third year at Pembroke. Here she reflects on her recent exam success and her experience of studying at Pembroke so far.

I’ve just finished my second year of Experimental Psychology. In my second year exams I received a First in the ten modules. I’ve had a lot of support from my tutors, friends and family. I also really enjoyed the course, which definitely helps.

Psychology is really interesting, and there’s a nice combination of lectures and lab work. In third year we can choose our options too, so it’s nice to be able to follow our own interests even more.

Pembroke was my first choice College.  I stayed at here on the UNIQ summer school and instantly felt at home. I liked the mix of pretty old buildings and the more modern feel of the new build. When I went to an open day everyone was really friendly and welcoming.

The people are my favourite thing about Pembroke— everyone is really friendly and approachable. It’s nice to be so central too. It was really helpful to be able to stay in College accommodation over part of the Easter vacation to revise for my second year exams.

My advice for new students is to follow your interests, and all the time working will be a lot more enjoyable! Remember to give yourself breaks and take time to do other things too.

My 2 years at Pembroke have gone so quickly, it’s unbelievable! I've had a really great time at Pembroke, and I'm glad I don't have to leave yet! In the future, I’m hoping to apply for graduate-entry medicine.
