After qualifying from Pembroke College, Cambridge, George Pickering worked at University College Hospital and St Mary's Hospital Medical School before coming to Oxford. He was Regius Professor of Medcine from 1956 to 1968, during which time he re-shaped the teaching particularly of Graduate Medicine at the University.He died in 1980.
