On Saturday 3rd June, Pembroke College hosted the Annual Fund Series event in the Pichette Lecture Theatre to thank those who have generously helped Pembroke by giving to its Annual Fund.

The Annual Fund continues to grow and plays an essential role at Pembroke, guaranteeing that students enjoy not only an excellent academic experience but also many of the added extras that make College life here so special. As well as supporting current students, the Annual Fund provides vital support to our leading Outreach & Access programme, ensuring that a world-class education is available to all those with the academic ability and potential to take full advantage of it.

The event itself brought together diverse audience of alumni, students, Fellows, staff and other friends of Pembroke who were treated to a fun and interesting afternoon at College. A packed schedule saw guests enjoy presentations from Oxnet Advisor, Matt Garraghan and History DPhil student Greg Hynes, a performance from the Choir and a fascinating talk from guest speaker and alumna, Dr Desirèe Cox (Clinical Medicine, 1987). The University has since published a podcast interview with Dr Cox, listen here.

A true polymath, Desirèe is a medical doctor specializing in psychiatry, an entrepreneur, a published writer and poet and a jazz artist. She titled her talk “Exponential You: How to decode your natural talents and flourish by doing what makes you come alive” which was followed by a Q&A session facilitated by two current medical students, Megan Knock (Medicine, Pre-clinical, 2016) and Ebubechi Okpalugo (Medicine, Pre-clinical, 2016).

On behalf of the Master and Fellows we would like to thank all those who attended for their continued support of Pembroke.
