Complete college contract
The College contract must be completed and returned before you start your studies in Oxford. Please also retain a copy for your own records. A sample copy of the College contract is available here.
In signing the contract, or making any other decisions about your studies here, you should please only rely on the material which is supplied to you by the University or by the College, such as our website, the Student Handbook, and communications from the Academic Office.
You should have received a letter from us, containing the college contract and a University card form. You must complete, sign and return the college contract and University card form to: Academic Office, Pembroke College, St Aldates, Oxford OX1 1DW before 1 September 2017. Remember to attach a passport-style photograph where indicated on the card form.
Complete freshers' form
Once you have read all the information on this website, you will need to complete the freshers’ form. The deadline for completing the form is by 25 August 2017. The form provides important information about you, your arrival in Oxford and your needs when you’re here.
At the start of the form, you will be asked to select if you are an undergraduate, graduate or visiting student. Please select the correct option, otherwise you will not see the right information or be asked the right questions. Check here to be sure you are selecting the right option.
All students must register online with the University before arriving in Oxford. Once you have met all the conditions of your offer and returned the documents outlined above, you will receive an email from the University’s IT Services team with information about the registration process, including a username and password. You are likely to receive this from late August onwards. University online registration opens on 1 September 2017. Please be aware that if you do not complete online registration before arriving in college, this could cause delays to the in-person registration process on the first day.

Matriculation and sub fusc
Hold the date! Saturday 14 October 2017
All undergraduate and graduate freshers will matriculate and swear the Bodleian Oath at the Sheldonian Theatre on Saturday 14 October 2017. Further information on timings and arrangements will be made available to you during the first week of term. Proceedings will start in the Hall at approximately 10am with a roll call of all those matriculating, followed by the freshers’ photograph and the ceremony at the Sheldonian Theatre. The whole event will be finished by approximately 1:30pm. Please note that unfortunately it is not possible for members of the public to attend the ceremony.
The required dress for matriculation is known as ‘sub fusc’. You should arrange to purchase your sub fusc as soon as possible after arriving in Oxford, as you will need it for matriculation. For the freshers’ dinners in freshers’ week (see freshers’ week timetable), you will also need to wear your gown, but not full sub fusc.
Shepherd and Woodward are one of several suppliers, and details of obtaining the sub fusc from them are available via this advert.
More information about matriculation and sub fusc is available in the Student Handbook.
Your Tutors may wish you to do some background reading, and those that do, will set reading lists. You are advised not to purchase any books until you have met all the conditions of your admissions offer. Reading lists will be uploaded below when they are available, and as more are uploaded over the next few weeks, we will email students taking the relevant subjects to let them know.
Not all Tutors set pre-course reading, but all students can find out further details about the course and forthcoming lectures by checking the relevant departmental website.
Engineering offer holders will be sent preparatory work by the Engineering Department after A Level result confirmation (17 August).
