Benson, Cyril Samuel

Cyril Benson was born on 7th September 1891, the second son of James and Alice Benson of Oxford. After attending the Boy’s High School, Oxford, Cyril matriculated at Pembroke College in 1910. He passed his Mods in History with a 4th class in 1913. A 2nd lieutenant with the 6th battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry, Cyril was killed in action at Trescault on 24th April 1917, aged 25, and is buried at Neuville-Bourjonval British Cemetery, Pas de Calais.
