Hedges Prize
The Hedges Prize was founded in memory of John Hedges of Westcliffe-on-Sea an, Engineering Science undergraduate of the College It is awarded on the Tutors’ recommendation to the Engineering Science undergraduate adjudged to have contributed most to the corporate life of the College.
The current value is £25 in book vouchers, and is awarded in Michaelmas Term.
The Paul Martins BP Prize
This scholarship will be awarded on the Tutors’ recommendation to an Engineering student achieving the best result (provisional 1st or 2.1) in Part I Engineering Finals (3rd year examination). The scholarship will be paid in equal installments at the beginning of each term (£500 per term), subject to satisfactory performance.
History (and Joint Schools)
Arthur Felix Broomfield Prize in History
This prize, currently worth £300, was donated in memory of Arthur Felix Broomfield, Scholar of the College (l937-40), The prize is awarded annually for distinguished or promising work by a member of the College reading Modern History or one of the Joint Schools of which Modern History is a part. There is also money available in the fund for proxime accessits.
The prizes are usually awarded on the evidence of (either) a vacation essay (or) as a travel grant for a project to be undertaken outside the British Isles (this includes a research project for dissertation). In awarding the prizes, the Tutors may take into account the previous performance of a candidate in tutorials and collections in order to reward promise or effort.
The prizes offer incentives for undergraduates to pursue in greater detail than is possible during term academic subjects which have already aroused his or her interest.
The prize is advertised in Hilary Term and awarded in Trinity.

The Crystal Prize
This prize, worth £150, is awarded for the best performance in Honour Moderations and is awarded on Tutors’ recommendation in Hilary Term.
The Farthing Prize
This prize, worth £100, is awarded for the best performance in Constitutional Law in Honour Moderations and is awarded on Tutors’ recommendation in Hillary Term.
The Monk Prize
This prize, worth £100, is awarded for the best performance in Criminal Law in Honour Moderations and is awarded on Tutors’ recommendation in Hillary Term.
Mathematics (and Joint Schools)
Cleoburey Prize
This book prize, worth £100, is awarded on Tutors’ recommendation in Michaelmas Term for the best First Class performance in Final Honours School examinations.
Medicine
Ayres-Evans Prize
This prize, worth c £250, has been established in medical studies to commemorate Miss K.A. Ayres and is open to undergraduates reading Medicine or Physiological Sciences. Candidates should submit an essay (not exceeding 3,000 words) on a choice of topics decided by the Tutors in medicine. Essays are submitted under a pseudonym.
This prize is advertised in Michaelmas Term and awarded in Hilary.
Bannister Medical Scholarship
This scholarship, worth approximately £500, is awarded on Tutors’ recommendation in recognition of the Mastership of Sir Roger Bannister to an undergraduate student who gave the most distinguished performance in Final Honours School examinations.
Blackett Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is worth approximatelly £400 awarded in Michaelmas Term on Tutors’ recommendation to a student embarking on the first year of their clinical training. The tutors will consider the academic performance, character and general achievements of candidates throughout their academic career and in the Final Honour School examinations.
Modern Languages (and Joint Schools)
Currie Prize
This prize worth approximately £300 is awarded on Tutors’ recommendation to the student giving the best performance in First Public Examination and is awarded in Michaelmas Term.
Christopher Pratt Memorial Prize
This prize, worth approximately £200 per annum, is awarded on Tutors’ recommendation to an undergraduate student reading Spanish who performs at the highest level.
Katie Prescott Scholarship
This scholarship, worth £300, is awarded on Tutors’ recommendation to an undergraduate student in Modern Languages who achieves a Distinction in First Public Examination.
Oriental Studies:
Brian Wilson Scholarships in Arabic and Chinese
These scholarships, worth £1,500 each per annum, one in Chinese and one in Arabic, are awarded to final year undergraduates on Tutors’ recommendation. The undergraduates must demonstrate outstanding performance in their course taken as a whole and have good standing within the College. If there is no suitably qualified candidate in one of the two courses mentioned above, the scholarship for that course may be transferred to the other course.
These scholarships are advertised and awarded in Trinity Term.
TEPCo Prize
This prize of approximately £100 in book vouchers per annum, is awarded on Tutors’ recommendation to the to undergraduate who achieved the most distinguished performance in First Public Examination.

Patrick Higgins Travel Prize
This prize, in memory of Patrick Higgins, who read Theology from 1967 to 1970 is worth approximately £150 per annum and is awarded for travel overseas in the furtherance of an undergraduate’s education.
