Deferred Entry Policy
Pembroke College devolves to subject tutors the decision whether to recommend an offer of a deferred place. In making the recommendation, tutors are asked to take into account the following considerations:
- Any policy on deferred entry operated by their Faculty or Department (for such policies, see the relevant Faculty or Department pages on the Oxford University website)
- The trends in applications in their subject and, since any deferred offer reduces the places available for the subsequent year, whether there is a reasonable likelihood that the candidate would be offered a place had he or she applied in the following year.
- That the numbers of such offers should not unduly limit the number of places which may be offered in the following year, or unduly reduce the number of places offered in the current year.
- That the candidate has given careful consideration to the activities he or she will undertake during the gap year.
Candidates seeking a deferred place may be offered a place without deferral.
