Matriculation
All undergraduate and graduate Freshers are presented to the Vice-Chancellor for admission to the University at a Matriculation Ceremony. This ceremony takes place in the Sheldonian Theatre on the morning of Saturday of 1st Week of Michaelmas Term. It is essential that everyone attends. Students who arrive at College later in the academic year matriculate at ceremonies held on the Thursday of 8th week of each term.
All Freshers should attend a roll-call at 9.45am in Hall, Saturday of 1st week (13th October 2012) after which the Freshers photograph is taken. All non-matriculating students and Visiting Students are warmly invited to take part in the photograph and are required to attend the roll-call.
During the ceremony Freshers make their Bodleian Oath where they promise to obey the rules of the Library.
All candidates attending the ceremony must wear full Sub Fusc (Academic Dress).

For Women

Women are allowed to wear to carry a square cap or else wear a soft cap. Members serving in HM Forces are permitted to wear uniform underneath the gown. The uniform cap is worn in the street and carried when indoors.
Graduates of other universities who are reading for higher degrees and diplomas, other than Special Diplomas and the Diploma in Legal Studies, may wear either the graduate student's gown or the academic dress of their own universities. Graduates reading for certificates may wear either a commoner's, or (if appropriate) a scholar's gown, or the academic dress of their own universities. Graduates of other universities reading for Final Honour Schools must wear a commoner's or (if appropriate) a scholar's gown.
